From Down the Block

I wish I knew when this photograph was taken – my guess is the 1970’s. It is the corner of Broome and Broadway, right down the block from AYNY, before Bloomingdales, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Tommy Hilfiger etc etc moved in. Full photo essay on what New Yorkers over 40 remember is here. And yes, we are always saying, “I remember New York when [insert place/person/homeless guy/mafia guy/restaurant/neighborhood] was… . ”

And here is the corner of Broome and Crosby st, and a photo of our building, in 1932, around the time Guruji started attending the Sanskrit College in Mysore.
