The management of stress is an important skill to have in the fast-paced, high stakes world that we live in. Stress, by definition, is actually a neutral force: when we have too much of it, it’s called distress. When it builds up overtime, it begins to wear us down, and it becomes increasingly hard for us to bounce back. When it is the kind of stress that makes us grow, it’s called eustress, and the poses and breathing exercises that we do in yoga create a very light, positive stress on our nervous system that helps us build resiliency, or the ability to bounce back. In this six week course, we are going to cover postures, breathing practices, and meditations that help us develop resiliency, and that help build up the nervous systems baseline response to situations that we often perceive as stressful. It will be a slow moving, calm class. No yoga or meditation experience is necessary.
