Five Weeks of Metta (Loving Kindness) Meditation

The Buddha said of Metta, “it is used to heal our relationship to the world.”
Loving Kindness works on restoring our relationship with ourselves, and with other people. without the other person knowing! We work on our own, and it changes the dynamic of the relationship, and leaves room for openness. We don’t do it to change the other person, we do it to transform our heart, and to release the pain we are carrying. Forgiveness is a good way to release the knot.
Meditation teacher Mark Numberg said that loving kindness is like having a good pair of shoes. Jack Kornfield, another well known meditation teacher, said of it, “This meditation uses words, images, feelings to evoke loving kindness and friendliness towards oneself and others.”
In these five weeks of classes, we will go into deeper and deeper levels of Loving Kindness healing, towards ourselves and all of the different classifications of people in our lives. No experience necessary. It is suggested to come to all the five classes, but if you can only make it to a few, that is ok too.
