November 29, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - December 20, 2018 @ 8:00 pm

intro to yoga

Thursday, November 29 6:30pm
Additional class on Tuesday December 4 6:30pm

$120 for the full course
$90 for anyone who has taken the course before, and would like to register again

Thursday’s class will be yoga theory, principles of practice, and posture instruction. Sunday’s class will be a guided class with posture instruction only. The Level 2 Introductory Course picks up where Level 1 leaves off. We will continue working on more asanas from the primary series, and go a little deeper into yoga philosophy and techniques. If you have a small amount of Ashtanga Yoga experience and are interested in the Introductory Course, you could try Level 2 without having taken Level 1.

Course Description

This course is suitable for those who have previously taken Level 1, and those who have a small amount of Ashtanga Yoga experience.

Each Thursday class will go a little deeper into yoga philosophy and techniques. Following this there will be a detailed breakdown of one section of the primary series. We will cover half of the primary series.

Each Sunday class will be taught as an introductory led class. Students will be guided at a slow, and even pace through the postures that were learned on Thursday evening, plus a few extras. This class will be a great opportunity for students to review and apply what was taught on Thursday, and is also appropriate for students who have previously taken the introductory course, or those looking for a slow paced led primary class.

Overall students will be introduced to postures, breathing and concentrations practices, deep relaxation and meditation. You will build your practice progressively from one week to the next, and by the end of the course you will have a firm foundation on which to continue your yoga practice at BKYC or even on your own! Some of the overall benefits you can expect to experience from this practice are improved strength, stamina and flexibility, improved breathing and breath control, as well as heightened ability to focus, and increased memory.

* There are no prerequisites for this class in regards to age or physical condition. However, if you have any questions about whether or not you can attend this introductory course, please consult with your doctor.
